Nord Electrical

The infrastructure behind the system.

Switchboards, protection, cabling and compliance documentation for solar, storage and related electrical work. Nord's electricians complete the checks the installation requires. A registration number is not published on this site.

Why it matters

Most of a system is the part you never see.

Panels and batteries are the visible part. Whether the system is safe, reliable and easy to extend depends on the switchboard, the protection and the cabling behind them.

We treat that work as part of the design from the start, not as the last step of an installation.

01What we do

Electrical work for energy systems, and beyond.

  1. 01

    Switchboards

Capacity checks, upgrades and new boards, with space and protection for solar, storage and EV circuits.

  2. 02

    AC and DC protection

Isolation, RCDs and surge protection placed where the system needs them, and labelled clearly.

  3. 03

    Cabling and conduit

Cable sized for the load and the run, routed neatly and protected through walls, roofs and trenches.

  4. 04

    Metering and supply

Work at the point of connection, coordinated with the meter and the supply the property has.

  5. 05

    EV charging circuits

A dedicated circuit and protection for the charger, with the supply capacity checked first.

  6. 06

    Documentation

Testing, records and sign off where the work requires it, kept for your file.

02 · From our work

The parts nobody photographs once the walls are lined.

Before the walls close

Switchboard rough in during a build. Cable looms are fixed to the framing so circuits can be identified and extended later.

Where the property meets the supply

Meter and isolator enclosures, with conduit rising from the trench. This is where capacity and export limits start.

Questions

Electrical questions.

All questions
Who carries out the electrical work?

Electrical work is carried out by certified electricians. Documentation and sign off follow the requirements that apply to the job.

What paperwork should I expect?

You should receive the records the installation requires. That can include a certificate of compliance and the system information needed for your own file and, where it applies, your retailer or lines company. The pack depends on the work.

Will my switchboard need upgrading?

Sometimes. Older boards may not have the space, protection or condition needed for solar, storage or an EV charger. This is checked during the assessment so it is part of the proposal, not a surprise on the day.

How long does an installation take?

It depends on the roof, access, switchboard work and whether storage is included. Your proposal sets out the expected installation time for your property before anything is booked.

Will the power be off during installation?

Supply is usually isolated while the system is connected and tested. The timing is agreed before the day so you know when the property will be without power.

Does the existing wiring get checked?

The assessment looks at the supply, the switchboard and what the new equipment needs to connect to. It is not a full rewire of the house unless that work is agreed.
